Issue with Mailserver

Posted: Thursday, June 8th, 2006 at 13:58 by James Blessing

Date: 08-06-2006 13:45

It appears that one of the 20 incoming mail servers (mxes7.enta.net) has experienced a number of SQL errors that has lead to it being blocked from performing any deliveries or scanning (anti-spam or anti-virus) functions. This has lead to a backlog of 200,000 messages over the last 3 days waiting to be processed.

The block has been removed and delivery of the delayed messages has begun. We believe no messages have been lost during this event. We are adding this type of failure to the monitoring scripts (as this is a new type of failure condition) to prevent a reoccurance. Apologies for the delays expereinced.

I’m pleased to advise that the new 622 Central is now fully installed and operational.  Hopefully the benefits of this will be noticable within the next few hours.

The controls on heavy users have been relaxed and will be monitored and modified as needed, the controls will not be completely disabled.

Thank you for your patience over the last couple of weeks.
