Maintanance of pop.entadsl.com

Posted: Wednesday, April 25th, 2007 at 08:47 by Iain Beveridge

A number of users collecting mail from pop.entadsl.com have been experiencing problems with delays collecting mail. After investigation into this issue we have found that the number of old mails on the server is causing disk performance issues.

In order to rectify this problem we need to expire any mail files older than 90 days. Any Webmail preferences and address books will not be affected by this change.

The first expire will run at 02:00 on the 1/5/2007. The POP server will need to be disabled while the script runs so users will be unable to collect mail during this time frame, although mail will continue to arrive. The first run will take a while due to the large amount of mail, the nightly process there after will be a lot faster.

We are aware of an issue with our Dial Unmetered Service that connects on the number 0808 993 3413, where users of this service may receive an engaged tone when they call. We have engineers working on the issues and will restore the service as soon as possible.
