Major Network Incident: Birmingham / Manchester / Wolverhampton

Posted: Wednesday, June 27th, 2007 at 13:19 by Neil Watson

We are currently aware of a major network incident affecting one of our suppliers that has affected our network routing. We have lost our Manchester to London link and our Birmingham to London link which means that all network traffic that would normally route via these POPs is being passed through our Telford POP. Non MPLS customers should still be able to route however may be subject some delays due to the increased amount of bandwidth being sent via Telford. Customers who utilise MPLS will unfortunately not be able to route to London if they are connected to any of the POPs detailed above. We will continue to push for resolution of the problem and apologise for any inconvenience that will be caused.

The link from London to Manchester has now been restored and traffic is now flowing via Manchester to London. This eases the pressure on our Telford links and customers should see some performance improvement on the past few hours. We will continue to push to get the network back to full strength. Thank you for your patience whilst we resolve these issues.
