Network Issues

Posted: Friday, September 12th, 2008 at 12:05 by Neil Watson

We are currently aware that we have experienced some network issues that have principally affected customers of our DSL and WBC platforms. We can see that the majority of users affected have reconnected, and are currently working to make sure all users have the service restored as soon as possible. We are looking at the cause of the problem and will report back when further information is available.

  1. Neil Watson says:

Our investigations have shown that two issues were experienced simultaneously that were unrelated. Our WBC Birmingham Node suffered a loss of connectivity due to the activity of a 3rd party engineer who was attending site without our knowledge. We have raised this issue with our supplier.

Secondly, a 10Gbps optical interface in London appears to have developed a fault, this led to the resilient routes being automatically brought into service as expected. This change of routing will have caused a small period of instability whilst the routing tables converged. The faulty interface has been taken out of service and we have engineers scheduled to attend site to correct the issue.
