At Risk: Slough POP

Posted: Thursday, February 27th, 2014 at 16:06 by Richard Partridge

We are currently dealing with a fault on one of the network links serving our Slough POP. The POP itself and all services terminating on it (including the 20CN and 21CN interconnects) should be considered at risk due to the loss of resilience.

Further updates will be provided as and when the issue has been rectified.

  1. Richard Partridge says:

Our supplier has advised that the fault on the network link relates to malicious damage resulting from cable theft. Repair work is underway and we are chasing for an ETR.

  2. Richard Partridge says:

Our supplier has advised that they’re currently working towards an ETR of 20:00hrs.

  3. Richard Partridge says:

Our supplier has advised that the fault has been rectified and service has been stable for approximately two hours. Resilience to the Slough POP has now been restored and we will keep the circuit under observation.

During the above window we will be replacing columbo.core.enta.net with a new router.

All services will be migrated to the new router, we expect downtime of approximately 1 hour during the window.

Affected services are:

  • Columbo WBC interconnect
  • All ethernet lines terminating at Columbo House
  • All wholesale ethernet lines via Columbo House

This work has been completed successfully.
