Incident: Cardiff, Glasgow & Bristol Edge Devices

Posted: Monday, November 27th, 2017 at 09:32 by Jamie Smith

We have just experienced an unexpected simultaneous reload of our edge devices in Cardiff, Glasgow & Bristol. This resulted in a brief loss of service for directly terminated leased line customers.

Previous investigations suggest this was due to a bug in the IOS software on these devices. We had preemptively loaded new software onto these devices in preparation for a controlled and scheduled reload. These devices are now running the alternative software following this unexpected reload. We will continue to monitor these devices. All services are now restored.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Planned work: VoIP platform

Wed 29 November 2017 08:00-09:00 GMT

During the above window we will be making changes to our VoIP platform to align with changes one of our suppliers will be making. This work has already been proved and our other supplier is unaffected so this is not expected to be customer affecting. No in-progress calls should drop.

  1. David Derrick says:

This work was completed although it was necessary to restart some processes. Some calls may have dropped due to this. Monitoring indicates that calls are now completing as normal.

During the above window we will be tidying the cabling inside our cabinets in preparation of the installation of replacement hardware in the near future.

No down time is expected and all precautions will be taken to avoid any disruption, however during this time any customers directly connected to this core should be considered at risk.

  1. Jamie Smith says:

This has now been cancelled and will be rescheduled at a later date.

All services currently terminated in this location will be migrated on to the new hardware. This includes DSL, EWCS, wholesale hand-off and pseudowires terminating at this location.

All other traffic that would normally route through this location will take alternative paths.
