At-Risk: Interxion DSL Infrastructure

Posted: Thursday, September 27th, 2018 at 13:33 by Richard Partridge

We are currently aware of a severe low memory alert on one of devices which forms part of the Interxion DSL infrastructure. This device may reboot unexpectedly, resulting in a short loss of service for broadband customers currently connecting through the Interxion DSL infrastructure whilst the device reboots. Should this happen, downtime is expected to be no longer than five minutes.

An emergency maintenance window is being organised to rectify this issue and will be announced shortly.

Thursday 21st June 2018 18:30 – 1900

During the above window we will be completing configuration work on an interconnect to correct throughput issues for a small set of broadband users. As the configuration is applied, users are likely to experience disruption to service for up to one minute.

We apologise for the short notice of this works. Should disruption continue past this window please reboot your router before contacting support.

Incident: Milton Keynes Broadband

Posted: Thursday, June 21st, 2018 at 11:16 by David Brewis

We have experienced an issue with our DSL platform where broadband users in Milton Keynes experienced slow speeds with packet loss.

Whilst normal service has now been restored we reaching out to the supplier to investigate and understand cause.

  1. David Brewis says:

Our suppliers continue to investigate, and we expect a response within 10 working days. Please find an interim report here.

Planned Maintenance: DSL Platform

Posted: Tuesday, June 12th, 2018 at 16:39 by David Brewis

Wednesday 20th June 2018 01:00 – 06:00

During the above maintenance window we will be completing configuration changes identified during a previous maintenance. This work will allow for metrics to be placed on the broadband traffic facilitating the direction of traffic to be steered dependent on where best suited.

Once these works are completed, broadband traffic will be steered away from Entanet’s DSL platform in Telehouse to Interxion, with sessions monitored to evaluate the failover. After confirmation sessions have fully migrated, the DSL platform will be steered away from Interxion to Telehouse allowing to test the other direction. Once sessions have fully migrated over, resiliency will be restored across both locations.

No downtime is expected however DSL customers should be considered at risk for the duration of the window.

Thursday 7th June 2018 01:00 – 06:00

During the above maintenance window we will be fully diversifying the DSL platform, allowing for metrics to be placed on the broadband traffic. This work will facilitate the direction of traffic dependent on where best suited, allowing for failover and as an enabler for planned engineering works.

Once these works are completed, broadband traffic will be steered away from Entanet’s DSL platform in Telehouse to Interxion, during which, sessions will be monitored to evaluate the failover. Once confirmed the sessions have migrated, work will be completed to restore resiliency in Telehouse.

No downtime is expected however DSL customers should be considered at risk for the duration of the window.

  1. Gurinder Bansal says:

During this maintenance window, we completed the configuration changes we set out to change, however we encountered some unforeseen issues. This prevented us from steering traffic away from Telehouse. As a result, resiliency in Telehouse was not restored.

Another maintenance window will be scheduled to complete both works at a later date.

Incident: Newcastle WBC

Posted: Sunday, October 29th, 2017 at 08:17 by Jake Turner

Engineers are currently investigating an issue causing a loss of service for DSL connections served by the Newcastle WBC node.

Further updates will be provided as and when they become available.

  1. Jake Turner says:

Investigations concluded that there were no issues on the Entanet network and so this incident was raised to BT Wholesale. BT have since advised that there was an incident causing loss of resilience and whilst this shouldn’t have been service affecting, they did see a blip this morning. The majority of sessions reconnected just before 09:00.

Tuesday 26th September 2017 00:01 – 06:00

During the above window we will be replacing cardiff.core.enta.net with a higher capacity router.

All services currently terminated in this location will be migrated on to the new hardware. This includes all customer transit, DSL, EWCS, wholesale hand-off and pseudowires terminating at this location.

All other traffic that would normally route through this location will take alternative paths.
