Planned Maintenance: Installation of new core routers.

Posted: Tuesday, September 24th, 2013 at 10:34 by Steve Lalonde

0:01 – 06:00 Friday 4th October 2013

During the above window we will be installing additional core routers in both Telehouse East and Telehouse North

The new routers will be connected to the existing routers and several core links will be moved to the new routers. Where a core link is being moved traffic will be switched to alternate paths before the link is moved.

No customer circuits will be moved during this work and no downtime is expected.

BT 21cn/WBC Faraday Interconnect

Posted: Monday, September 17th, 2012 at 11:28 by Steve Lalonde

We are currently investigating a fault on the Faraday 21cn Interconnect.

  1. Steve Lalonde says:

A fault has been raised with BT next update from them will be 12:45. We have also dispatched one of our engineers to cover any issues on our equipment.

  2. Wayne Hawtin says:

The issue does appear to be related to a BT Major Service Outage. We will continue to push for further updates which will be provided when they become available.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

  3. Steve Lalonde says:

A BT engineer is now onsite investigating, no ETR yet.

  4. Steve Lalonde says:

BT have located a fibre break between our rack and the 4th floor. Now waiting on additional BT engineer.

  5. Steve Lalonde says:

We now have our own engineer onsite, unable to restore service as the fault is not in our equipment.

  6. Steve Lalonde says:

Additional BT engineer due to arrive at 17:15

  7. Steve Lalonde says:

Several BT engineers have been on site for a while now liaising with our engineer.

    Still no ETR

  8. Steve Lalonde says:

Fibre break localised estimated 30 minutes to re-splice. We are hopeful this will resolve the fault.

  9. Steve Lalonde says:

Fibre has been re-spliced, there is still unacceptably high loss on the link. BT now looking at alternate fibre pair for the section with the loss.

  10. Steve Lalonde says:

    Service restored users are reconnecting.

Note: Some users may need to reboot their routers to reconnect.

  11. Richard Partridge says:

An incident report has been made available for this issue. It can be found here.

Emergency Maintenance: gs1.core.enta.net

Posted: Monday, December 13th, 2010 at 11:30 by Steve Lalonde

Tuesday 14/12/2010 01:00 – 06:00

Due to recent outages caused by gs1.core.enta.net, we will be upgrading gs1.core.enta.net to a higher specification device.  This should take less than 2 hours to complete, during which time all directly connected customers without backup services will be off line, all other traffic that normally passes through this device has already been rerouted via alternative paths.

We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Note: this is reposted due to the notification not being sent to mailing list subscribers.

  1. Phil Davies says:

We have finished the planned work for tonight, all systems are working normally.

If your service is not working please contact support via the usual channels.

Outage: Manchester to London

Posted: Thursday, February 4th, 2010 at 16:15 by David Derrick

We are currently seeing errors on our link between London and Manchester. To maintain network stability, we are taking this link out of service while investigations take place. All traffic will route via alternate paths, some customers may notice a small increase in latency.

  1. David Derrick says:

Our circuit provider has identified a possible fault with a card in Manchester. Engineers are working to confirm this, there is no ETR at this time. Further updates will follow as we receive them.

  2. Steve Lalonde says:

Our provider has cleared the fault, we will test the circuit for a errors over the next hour.

  3. Steve Lalonde says:

We have seen no more errors on the circuit and it is therefore now back in service. We will continue to monitor as the load increases.
