Planned Maintenance: Telehouse East PWAN Infrastructure

Posted: Tuesday, February 10th, 2015 at 12:59 by Richard Partridge

Wednesday 18th February 2015 00:01 – 06:00

Following on from the recent incident in our Telehouse East PWAN infrastructure, we will be beginning work to decommission the Telehouse East PWAN switch in favour of our VPLS based platform. Each PWAN connection terminating on the Telehouse East PWAN switch will experience up to 5 minutes downtime during the window whilst being moved into the VPLS platform.

This work will only affect PWAN leased lines and PWAN DSLs. No other services are expected to be affected.

During the above maintenance window we will be upgrading the software on telehouse-north.core.enta.net and telehouse-east3.core.enta.net, this will require the routers to be rebooted.

No customers are directly connected to these routers and traffic through the routers will be rerouted over alternate paths before the upgrade work begins.

Planned Maintenance: Sonicwall GMS

Posted: Monday, January 27th, 2014 at 09:50 by David Derrick

Monday 3 February 2014 10:00-12:00

During the above window the management system for our Sonicwalls will be upgraded. During this time, customers will be unable to view reports and our support
staff will be unable to make changes.

The operation of the appliances themselves will be unaffected and urgent changes can still be made by the NOC team.

Since this is only a point release no loss of data is expected but full backups will be taken should we need to roll back.

Reminder: Max MTU Maintenance

Posted: Monday, September 2nd, 2013 at 14:53 by Steve Lalonde

0:01 – 07:00 Friday 6th September 2013

This notice is a repost of the original from 6th August to remind customers of this important maintenance work.

In preparation for insertion of new core routers in the near future, we will be setting the maximum supported MTU to 9000 bytes.

Does this affect me?

  • This will only affect customer that currently have pseudo wires or wholesale handoff with the MTU set above 9000

What do I have to do?

  • If your MTU is greater than 9000 then change the MTU on your equipment to 9000 or less.

When should I change my equipment?

  • As soon as possible but before 06/09/2013

What happens if I do nothing?

  • After our maintenance, packets greater than 9000 bytes will not be able to pass through our core network and will be dropped. This will lead to an outage of your service if you do not check and validate your configuration in advance.

I have EWCS broadband does this affect me?

  • No, The MTU for EWCS is 1600 so nothing needs to be changed.

My MTU is less than 9000 can I turn it up?

  • Please do NOT change your MTU upwards without first consulting with our support team, as there may be other restrictions on your service that will affect you.
