At Risk: Milton Keynes

Posted: Wednesday, December 13th, 2017 at 14:26 by Alistair Patterson

We are currently investigating a loss of connectivity between our Milton Keynes and Interxion pops. Initial investigation suggest a supplier issue, a fault has been raised for investigation. Traffic is currently passing across alternative paths, however services terminating at Milton Keynes should be considered at risk due to reduced resiliency.

Updates will be provided when available.

  1. Mark Yardley says:

Investigation with our supplier is still ongoing. We are continuing to interact with them to get this issue progressed. Again, we will provide more information when available.

  2. This incident have been linked to major cable break near London. Engineers are currently on site to try and rectify the issue. We will provide further updates as they become available.

  3. Richard Partridge says:

Our supplier has advised that the fibre fault has now been rectified. Service across the affected network link has resumed and full resilience to our Milton Keynes POP has been restored.

  4. Richard Partridge says:

We’ve just experienced a further loss of service across the same link, again causing a loss of resilience to the Milton Keynes POP.

Our supplier has advised that despite the fibre break originally being cleared yesterday evening, subsequent problems on the same affected links have been reported. Our supplier already has engineers on route to re-investigate the case and evaluate the original repair. Further updates will be provided as and when they become available.

  5. Although our links are back up and traffic is once again passing over the circuits, they are still being monitored by our supplier and should be considered at risk. There is a possibility of additional maintenance taking place early this morning. Further updates will be provided as and when they become available.

  6. Alistair Patterson says:

Our supplier has advised that although services are restored, investigations are still ongoing. No further downtime is expected but the links should still be considered at risk until our supplier clears the incident.

Further updates will be provided when available.

  7. Alistair Patterson says:

Our supplier has advised that further maintenance is required to clear this issue. As this may be service affecting this will be carried out between 02:00 and 06:00 tomorrow morning. Therefore these links should be considered at risk during this period.

Updates will follow once we have received confirmation that this work has been completed.

  8. Alistair Patterson says:

Our supplier has advised that the maintenance last night completed successfully and the fault has now been cleared.

At Risk: Northern POPs

Posted: Tuesday, April 22nd, 2014 at 18:36 by Richard Partridge

We are currently investigating a loss of service on our Glasgow to Preston core network link. Traffic is currently passing across alternative paths. For the time being, Preston, Glasgow, Scolocate, Edinburgh and Newcastle core routers (and any directly connected services into these cores) are considered at risk due to the loss of resilience.

  1. Ryan Berrisford says:

Our suppliers have confirmed the incident was due to a fibre break which has now been repaired. A period of monitoring has followed which has highlighted no further issues. Resiliency has therefore been restored to the affected core locations and no further problems are expected.
