Planned Maintenance: Telford

Sunday 15th July 2018 08:00 – 18:00

During the above window, Western Power Distribution will be conducting maintenance works to service the electricity substation supplying the local area. During these works, external mains supply will be disconnected to allow safe operation to all involved, in doing so our external generators will supply the Telford data centre allowing for continued and uninterrupted service.

We are speaking with the power company to obtain clarity as to the actual duration of works and will update if this becomes available.

No down time is expected and all precautions will be taken to avoid any disruption, however during this window the Telford data centre should be considered at risk.

We are aware BT are performing planned works affecting a number of service aggregators spread across several nodes on our network. Some customers on each node will be affected and will experience an outage of up to ten minutes.

The work is essential for ongoing and improved capacity management on interconnects delivered to Entanet.  Any affected customer should reboot their equipment before calling support as this should resolve any unanticipated residual issue.

Planned Work: Peterborough.core

During the above window we will be commissioning new equipment into the Peterborough POP.  The work will require routing adjustments with one of our transit providers. The work is not expected to result in any downtime however the core should be considered at risk for the duration of the window whilst changes are taking place.

Planned Maintenance: Telehouse-east4

During the above window we will be completing a planned maintenance to upgrade standby hardware within telehouse-east4.core. Broadband traffic will be steered away from Entanet’s DSL platform in Telehouse to Interxion. Although no downtime is expected during this maintenance window, all other services should be considered at-risk.

Planned Maintenance: DSL Platform

During the above maintenance window we will be completing configuration changes identified during a previous maintenance. This work will allow for metrics to be placed on the broadband traffic facilitating the direction of traffic to be steered dependent on where best suited.

Once these works are completed, broadband traffic will be steered away from Entanet’s DSL platform in Telehouse to Interxion, with sessions monitored to evaluate the failover. After confirmation sessions have fully migrated, the DSL platform will be steered away from Interxion to Telehouse allowing to test the other direction. Once sessions have fully migrated over, resiliency will be restored across both locations.

No downtime is expected however DSL customers should be considered at risk for the duration of the window.

Planned Maintenance: Interxion3.core

During the above windows we will be completing planned maintenance to upgrade our core equipment, interxion3.core.enta.net.

We expect all services currently terminated in this location to have a maximum downtime of 1 hour. Services include Transit, EWCS, Leased lines, Co-location, Wholesale handoff and Pseudowires. Whilst actual downtime is expected to be no more than 1 hour, the full 6 hours may be required to account for any unforeseen issues. All other traffic that would normally route through this location will take alternative paths.

Prior to works, broadband traffic will be steered away from Interxion to lessen the customer impact and on successful completion the broadband traffic will be rebalanced between multiple locations.

On the proviso this all goes to plan, we will be moving ahead with works affecting Telehouse North,  the following day on Friday 8th June from 00:01 to 06:00.

Planned Maintenance: DSL Platform

During the above maintenance window we will be fully diversifying the DSL platform, allowing for metrics to be placed on the broadband traffic. This work will facilitate the direction of traffic dependent on where best suited, allowing for failover and as an enabler for planned engineering works.

Once these works are completed, broadband traffic will be steered away from Entanet’s DSL platform in Telehouse to Interxion, during which, sessions will be monitored to evaluate the failover. Once confirmed the sessions have migrated, work will be completed to restore resiliency in Telehouse.

No downtime is expected however DSL customers should be considered at risk for the duration of the window.

    During this maintenance window, we completed the configuration changes we set out to change, however we encountered some unforeseen issues. This prevented us from steering traffic away from Telehouse. As a result, resiliency in Telehouse was not restored.

    Another maintenance window will be scheduled to complete both works at a later date.
